Senegal chameleon, Chamaeleo senegalensis

A small Senegal chameleon (Chamaeleo senegalensis) in the Gambia. They are fascinating slow moving animals with funny eyes looking in different directions.

  1. This is an animal I have always wanted to see in the wild - one day maybe I will.

  3. Although we have so many exotics here in south Florida, I do not think we are encountering chameleons. I suppose it is only a matter of time. Years ago, Florida Green Anoles were sold to folks up north as "chameleons." along with a little collar and chain that permitted children to pin them to their lapels. Sad deception!
