Eritrea Clawed Frog or Peracca's Clawed Frog (Xenopus clivii)

I have observed this frog in a pond in the Northern Ethiopian Mountains. The species should be an Eritrea Clawed Frog or Peracca's Clawed Frog (Xenopus clivii); an endemic in species in the Ethiopian Highlands. Normally, clawed frogs are highly aquatic animals living in lakes or rivers with a permanent water body. But this very large individual lives in a small pond that contains only few weeks per year water and is highly contaminated by organic waste water. The next water source is several kilometers away and a way over land can be excluded.
