Admiral Butterflies

The Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) is a common butterfly of the autumn. In central Europe some of the admirals were migrants which came (over or around the Alps) during the summer from the Mediterranean regions. Since several years, they stopped this migration and our local population is migrating to Scandinavia during summer time.
The butterflies on the photos are part of a flock that was resting in a tree; the size of the flock was about 10 or 15 specimens.
