Dead trees in the Bavarian Forest National Park

There was a massive outbreak of bark beetles that killed large parts of the forest. Some trees were cut down and the bark removed to stop the beetles. The wood is not used and will decompose to form soil.

  1. What a shame about the trees. They make excellent photos though.
