Common chicory under the microscope

Common chicory (Cichorium intybus) was used for many purposes in pharmacy, as alternative for coffee or as food. It is also an interesting plant for microscopy and easy to prepare. These are some photos of the steam and the root of a chicory plant. The sections are colored with FCA coloring after ETZOLD (Fuchsine-Chrysoidine-Astra Blue).
