Birds in the botanical garden in Bakau/The Gambia

The botanical garden of Bakau is a small park near Serekunda on the Gambian coast. It was found in 1924 and contains a selection of western African and other tropical plants. The park is a good place for birding, especially for those who have no time in Gambia. The dense vegetation is attractive for many smaller bird species that can be found in forests, bush land or plantations. Birds are easy to see, the ways are close and the vegetation is not as dense as in a forest with many possibilities to see birds. And it is a quiet place; I was there for 2 hours and all the time alone.

  9. This place must have been blissful, a lovely way to enjoy one's own company without another soul around. I love being with people but I also enjoy my solitude at times, and to be here would be just about perfect. Fantastic photos of these beautiful and colorful birds, and the lizards, love those too.
