Celery compounds under the microscope

Celery (Apium graveolens var. dulce) is a plant that is cultivated for a very long time. It has been known since the time of the ancient Egyptians and was used as a medicinal herb most of the time.

Celery contains many different chemical compounds like Apiol, Psoralen or Bergapten. The photo shows crystals grown from an alcoholic extract dried on a microscope slide. I don’t know what it is, but it was in the plant in a high concentration.
