Palm-nut Vultures

An almost vegetarian bird is the Palm-nut Vulture. Most of his diet consits of oil palm nuts and other fruits like dates. The rest (~ 35 %) is fish and small animals like insects. I saw this pair in a forest in Gambia, where they still occur frequently.

  10. I didn't know of such a vulture either. How interesting that a vulture adapted that way in contrast to most others of the family. A lovely portrait you took.
