Lichterfest Pottenstein

Today was the Lichterfest (Festival of Lights) in Pottenstein in the Frankonian Alb in Southern Germany. It is a tradition around a church ceremony that marks the end of the Ewige Anbetung (Eternal Adoration) with a procession through the village. Along route hundreds of fires are made in the mountains around the village.

  11. Wow! That looks like fun!! Especially all the fires - they really light up the night! Of course down here in Australia, so many fires would be cause for alarm - it's midsummer and high fire danger season!!
