Thick-billed Raven (Corvus crassirostris)

The Thick-billed Raven (Corvus crassirostris) is the largest bird of the corvids and with his large bill he looks bigger than our Common Raven. He is endemic to the Ethiopian Mountains and surrounding areas. I had the luck to see this birds in the Bale Mountains in Southern Ethiopia where they still occur frequently.

For a giant, he sounds rather small:

I am sure Ethiopia and all this part of the world has still much to offer regarding fauna that has not yet been put forward, mainly because of the unrests...
