Within the Chemical Garden

A chemical garden or a crystal garden is made of solid metal salts that are added to an aqueous solution of sodium silicate. The salts will start to dissolve and transform to silicate salt on the surface. This silicate is slightly soluble and grows to strange forms. The photos are made with different salts in a 50 % solution of sodium silicate.
